The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is home to two of the most significant annual ceremonies in San Diego County honoring veterans: its annual Memorial Day commemoration and Veterans Day celebration. The events are typically attended by thousands of San Diegans and visitors from around the world; both events are regularly covered by most local news stations.
Additionally, the Memorial hosts dozens of private events honoring veterans each year. These include “Veterans Honor Ceremonies,” recognizing veterans by their friends and families upon their plaque installations, as well as reenlistment ceremonies, promotions and military reunions. Assistance in organizing events can be obtained by calling the Association office at (858) 459-2314.
Veterans Honor Ceremonies
Throughout the year, there are over 40 individual “Veterans Honor Ceremonies” held to honor veterans whose plaques are newly installed on the Veterans Walls. The ceremonies, which honor veterans, living and deceased, typically include small gatherings of family and friends, with an Association Trustee serving as master of ceremonies.
